Study and working life support
The Ministry of Education and Culture funded the project that created the website content. The aim of the project was to support and accelerate the access of migrants to the labor market, but a key requirement for this goal was, of course, to accelerate access to vocational studies and support vocational education. The number of students with an immigrant background in vocational studies are increasing continually and it has therefore been important to focus on their needs at this time.
The project had a piloted model in which vocational teachers and Finnish teachers worked together on each subject within an electronic platform. This included metal, warehouse and construction sectors. New ways of becoming acquainted with the fields and how to support the students qualification where key aspects.
The idea behind Tekoihin.fi is that teachers no longer need to spend time searching for suitable material, but all would be easy to find from one address. Training for Salpaus staff was also offered to help them to get a knowledge of immigrant student’s needs.
